Random Hand - Hit Reset

Image
One of the most underrated punk rock/ska band of the decade! I've been listening to Random Hand since their 2011 album 'Seething Is Believing'. Back then, I thought this stuff is extremely original! It is within my definition of punk-ska and the songs are so catchy! I couldn't stop singing every single! 'Hit Reset' by Random Hand is another one of their brilliant albums that is simply supreme to anything else in the genre! Their use of the trumpet is fantastic, the singing is beautiful from both the lead vocals and the guitarist! If you liked bands like Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Nofx, Catch 22- this album is just for you! I played it at the skate shop I work at, and it suits the vibe just perfectly! Recently I've heard that Random Hand has signed to Fat wreck chords which I'm not surprised at all! Stay tuned for more stuff from the band, tour, and merch! Spotify Album Link

Pennywise - Never Gonna Die

Image
Yes! It has been released! Yes, it sounds just like Pennywise, nothing has changed. That's exactly what we expect, that's why we love it. There you have it- 'Never Gonna Die' by Pennywise is just like the classic pennywise. It's strong, short and sweet, fast, melodic. All you need for the correct formula for a pure Punk-Rock music. I won't say anything else, and I shouldn't. Spotify Album Link

Electric Frankenstein - burn bright burn fast

Image
Ok, the best punk/rock album. period. This album never gets old. Electric Frankenstein is the fathers of the melodic punk. Every single song on this album has a catchy rhythm, brilliant vocals, great riffs, and beautiful solos. I would not say it on many other bands, who have been around for so long, but these guys never changed their style even in a bit. The songs on 'Burn bright, Burn Fast' makes you wanna dance and sing. It actually reminds you why you liked punk music from the first place. Electric Frankenstein is simply doing it right, no bullshit, no music effects, no electronics, no computer, no tricks. Pure catchy punk music, time after time, album after an album, year after year. You must listen to this album before humankind will be destroyed. Spotify Album Link

Kikagaku Moyo - House in the Tall Grass

Image
This is magic. This group is a psychedelic-rock band from Japan and Thus its unreadable name. This album is so mysterious, its a blend of long moments of instrumental music, combined with Sitar, electric guitar, and drums. I guess its one of the reasons why it took me so long to get used to this album, but I loved it through the whole process. Many of the songs have lyrics which repeat themselves (like it usually happens in this genre)  which gives a 'dreamy' or a 'drunkenness' effect for me, I absolutely enjoy it! In addition, I love the way the vocals are whispering slowly through many of the songs, it gives me the exact feeling you get from looking at the album cover- mystery blends with joy and some spiritual vibes too. Every time I listen to this album I felt a deep need for making a meditation, yoga or simply relax to this early in the morning. It will change your mood. for sure. Spotify Album Link

Vegan Friendly - Vegan Friendly

Image
This is the one and only album by the trio project 'Vegan Friendly'. I was pretty excited back in 2017 for the release date of this album. I've heard a song or two before, but what really made me excited is that I knew that the guys who are taking part in this project have a great musician with tons of potential to create something special. Vegan Friendly has 50 monthly listeners on Spotify. These guys rarely tour, hence I believe that this was a part of this project. Purley writing and recording music for an album, no advertisements, no merchandise-only creating music for the music. No intention to spread the word. The album is a blend of modern folk and rock. I love the album melodies at every song, its a gentle folk combines post-rock which creates a simple but great album. There are long instrumental elements where you can lose yourself in it, and its fantastic (in a healthy way). Some of the songs on this album take you back but on the other hand, it remind...

Maid of Ace - Maid In England

Image
Why the heck I did not know these girls exist? My week has completely turned over! Have you missed 'The Distillers'? Yes, me too! So they are back here, sort of. 'Maid of Ace' is a brilliant all-girls punk band from the UK. I've heard the whole album about four times on the first day. 'Maid In England' album is one of those great melodic punk albums that should be remembered for years from now. The vocals are dirty just the way it should be, the drums are really interesting and catchy, with the right guitar riffs its all blend so well! This is the right recipe for what results in a huge album. If you sick of all the new punk/rock/emo bands out there. so there you have it, back to 2002, or maybe even better. Spotify Album Link

Russo & Weinberg - Stay

Image
As part of my job at work, I am in charge of the music, making sure its the right music in the right vibe. From time to time, customers ask me about the artists who were playing at a certain moment. Once, a lady asked me about the artist and if I could recommend anything else. In return, she asked me to listen to this album, 'Stay' by 'Russo & Weinberg'. Russo & Weinberg are a great duo. If you like artists like 'Angus and Julia Stone' this one is exactly for you. Russo & Weinberg are creating a great intimate modern folk. Russo & Weinberg have less than 200 monthly listeners on Spotify and maybe that's what also makes it so special. I like these kinds of underground artists the most. Enjoy. Spotify Album Link

Moonchild - Voyager

Image
Moonchild is a special band. I've been listening to this album 'Voyager' for a while, trying to understand what exactly am I listening to? 'Voyager' is such a relaxing album. The music genre on this album is a blend of Modern Jazz, Soul and electronic. Amber, the band's lead singer voice is warm and relaxing. It feels like the singer always has a smile on her face while she sings on the album. Every song on this album will defiantly make you wanna move your body or just to learn some basic Jazz dancing steps. Recommended for quiet times, while practicing yoga, romantic dinner or on a chill evening. Spotify Album Link

Pagan

Image
I've heard about the band 'Pagan' from Melbourne a while ago, but I've never seen them live, and in addition, they did not release anything on the net,so I basically needed to stay patient to hear them. Recently they have uploaded to Spotify 6 new songs, simply as singles, not even as an EP or an album yet. Yes, the high-anticipation was worth it. It sounds different, great, hardcore, and dirty! plus the real bonus is its female vocals. Stay tuned for their full debut album, it will be insane. For sure. Spotify Artist Page

The Smith Street Band - Sunshine and Technology

Image
So I did not get the thing about The Smith Street Band at first. Something felt too different. It is not as fast as Nofx, it is not catchy as Bad Religion. Still confused, I had to give their latest album 'More Scared of You than You Are of Me' another shot, then it hits me. Ok, true these guys are great! I agree with millions of other (Australians) people. The Smith Street Band are the new punk rock/pop genre. Their sound is unique. Their singer sings in the most emotionally way I have ever heard. Listening to the band songs makes you wanna scream every single word out loud with the singer, just like he does in the band's songs with their deep lyrics. The songs on 'Sunshine and Technology' are deep, and it will touch you if you would listen carefully. I find Sunshine and Technology their best record so far as it a bit dirtier and aggressive than their latest 'More Scared of You than You Are of Me'. Its very real, emotional, sensitive, but still...

Kids Insane - Cluster

Image
I had no idea the Israeli band 'Kids Insane' were working on their new album during 2016/17. On its release date, I've heard about it for the very first time, then immediately I fell in LOVE with this album. If I need to make a comparison I would say that this album is somewhere on the time line where 'Gallows' stopped with their album 'Orchestra of Wolves' back in 2006, only this one is 10 times better. Cluster by Kids Insane is the definition of a complete but melodic chaos in the Hardcore/Punk music scene. Catchy Punk Rock chorus mixing with dirty Hardcore vocals are making this album 'Cluster' so brilliant.              Spotify Album Link
